Rerun is designed to work without an account. We aim to collect only the information needed to operate and improve the game.
Information stored on your device
Your guesses, completion state, statistics, streak, display preference, onboarding state, and analytics choice are stored in your browser’s local storage. This information stays on that device unless you clear it. We do not currently provide accounts or cross-device synchronization.
Operational and usage information
Our hosting provider may process standard request information such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timing, and error details to deliver and protect the service. Vercel provides a country code derived from the request so Rerun can determine whether prior analytics permission is required. When Google Analytics is active, it processes page views, approximate location, browser and device information, and anonymous game events such as puzzle start, completion, guess count, rejected guesses, and sharing. We do not send Google the words you guess, puzzle answers, or attempt tokens, and we do not use advertising trackers.
Cookies
For visitors in regions where prior permission is required, Google Analytics does not load until “Allow Analytics” is selected. For visitors in other known locations, it may load by default and can be disabled at any time through “Privacy Choices.” When active, Google may set first-party analytics cookies such as _ga to distinguish visitors and sessions. Disabling analytics does not affect gameplay. Hosting and security providers may use essential mechanisms required to deliver or protect the service.
Service providers and retention
We use Vercel to host, secure, and understand the service and Google Analytics for optional usage analytics. Operational logs and analytics are retained according to those providers’ configured retention periods and may be deleted or aggregated sooner.
Your choices
Where prior permission is required, you can allow or decline analytics before Google Analytics loads. In other locations, you can opt out at any time with the “Privacy Choices” button at the bottom of the site. Opting out removes accessible Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page without the Google tag. You can erase all locally stored game data through your browser settings. Questions or deletion requests relating to information we control can be sent through the contact page.
Changes
We will update this notice before introducing accounts, payments, advertising, or materially different data uses.
